Canada’s third youth conference concludes in Vancouver

Youth devising plans on how they can serve their communities. © Baha'i Community of Canada/Photo: Ryan Lash Vancouver, British Columbia, 8 August 2013 (CBNS) — Over the British Columbia Day long weekend, from 3 to 5 August, the varsity gymnasium at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, was taken over by more than 750 youth from Yukon, British Columbia, Alaska and Alberta, who were participating in a conference aimed at increasing the momentum of a community-building process under way in localities across their regions.

Toronto youth conference advances local community-building efforts

Baha’is join other religious leaders in urging G8 to address poverty

Official logo of the 2013 G-8 Summit in the United Kingdom. © Crown Copyright Toronto, Ontario, 5 April 2013 (CBNS) — In a letter published today in the Financial Times, the Baha’i Community has joined religious leaders from the G8 countries in calling on heads of government to follow the example of the United Kingdom in fulfilling existing commitments to spend 0.7% of national income on aid. The Secretary of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United Kingdom signed the letter on behalf of other Baha’i communities in the G8 countries. Over 60 religious leaders pointed out that as of 5 April, 1000 days remain to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by the 2015 deadline.
