UN General Assembly again expresses “deep concern” over continuing human rights violations in Iran

United Nations, 18 December 2013 (BWNS) — The UN General Assembly today expressed “deep concern at serious ongoing and recurring human rights violations” in Iran, showing that the international community will not be swayed by mere promises of improvement.

Online videos of the 114 youth conferences

The videos feature a number of youth who participated in the conferences convened by the Universal House of Justice — the international governing body of the Baha’i community — describing their experiences and the spirit of the events that took place in diverse settings around the globe.

Montréal Salon du Livre: Together, youth change the world

Messages written by youth on paper “bricks” glued on the house. © Jean-Paul Moss Montréal, Quebec, 28 November 2013 (CBNS) — This year, at the Salon du livre de Montréal — a major book fair— the theme of the Éditions bahá’íes [Baha'i Publishing] booth was “Together youth are changing the world” to encourage young people to take action for the well-being of their communities. During the fair, which took place from 20 to 25 November, over 260 youth left messages stating how they could change the world. Young visitors had been invited to write a message on a paper “brick,” which was then used to build a house representing a better world. A large poster showing a house under construction, on which the bricks were glued, decorated the back of the booth.

Québec: A warm welcome for the Baha’i Faith at Cégep Sainte-Foy

This year’s edition of the week-long cultural and educational event, the twelfth in the series, was dedicated to the most recent of the world’s great religions. Given the scope and quality of the program, the high degree of professionalism demonstrated by the organizers, the centrality of the arts and the enthusiastic participation of the students, the event was unprecedented in the history of the Baha’i community of Canada.

Ottawa, Ontario, 8 November 2013 (CBNS) — Dr. Andrew Bennett, Canada’s Ambassador of Religious Freedom, addressed the Fifth Annual All-Party Interfaith Parliamentary Breakfast on Tuesday 5 November. The Parliamentary Restaurant was filled to capacity with parliamentarians, foreign ambassadors, representatives of Canada’s religious communities and interfaith organizations, and academics.

A week of Baha’i activities at the Sainte-Foy Cégep in Québec

From 11 to 14 November, students will have the opportunity to discover “this modern religion led by universal principles,” in the words of the principal organizer of the event, Daniel Gignac, Professor of Religious Studies.

Toronto, Ontario, 18 October 2013 (CBNS) — On October 20th, Canadian Baha’is will gather with their neighbours and friends to celebrate the 194th anniversary of the birth of the Bab — the first of the two divine teachers central to the founding of the Baha'i Faith.
